Current Brookside Village Condos for Sale
The saying goes, those who live in glass houses….what about those that live in mirror houses?
I’ve seen many houses in my day and haven’t always agreed with the sellers choices but I recently saw a house unlike anything I’d seen before. The home, located at 606 Esplanade #1, is a front unit townhome with great ocean views, an ideal location, and loads of potential….but…..
In it’s current state it’s more like a carnival fun house than something you would expect in a beach house. From the moment you walk in you are surrounded by mirrors. Every wall, every closet, every corner is mirrored. You can’t walk into a bathroom or bedroom without seeing yourself reflected on every surface of the room. It’s truly incredible and just a little dizzying.
Although it probably wouldn’t take much to turn the home into something fantastic, it’s hard to notice anything other than your reflection with the current situation. I’ve seen mirrors added to beach homes to reflect the views, or add some light, but when every surface is mirrored its like being in a carnival funhouse.
It’s not hard to see why the listing agents chose to only post one picture as it might be impossible to get any pictures without the photographer’s reflection…hundreds of times. In general the home has great potential. The rooms are large, it offers a great ocean view, the kitchen living room have great light with sit down ocean views, but at the moment between the mirrors and the price, it’s going to be a tough sell. If the big waves in Redondo Beach beach are just a little too much for the little ones, there’s another way to spend a great day at the beach without actually going to the beach.
Seaside Lagoon in South Redondo beach may be just what you’re looking for to cool off this summer. Located in the King Harbor/Redondo Pier area Seaside Lagoon is part park, part pool, part beach play area with plenty of places to eat and play nearby. Water is pumped in from King Harbor, chlorinated, and eventually cleaned and pumped back out.
Seaside Lagoon is not only open daily but has some wonderful special events such as fireworks on the 4th, Lobsterfest and even winter ice skating in years past.
South Redondo Beach has a number of areas with a real community feel. The Avenues, the Gem Streets, and the Hollywood Riviera just to name a few.
One of the more unique communities in Redondo Beach and the South Bay is located at 1800 S PCH. It is a relatively new complex with more updated finishes and layouts but what makes it unique is the setting above and what’s below. The community sits above retail and restaurant areas with a huge subterranean parking garage below. The parking is split between guest use and resident use (with the resident parking behind a gate).
The main level consists of individual detached homes that look and feel like single family homes, arranged among colorful gardens, brick walkways, gazebos and more. Designed to offer the true community feel of the beach communities of the 40’s and 50’s, each home has a unique look but all share a similar Cape Code styling to give the community a sense of uniformity, while offering a level of individuality not found in most planned unit developments.
The complex has 98 homes ranging from 3 bed/3 bath with 1,497 square feet to 4 bed/3 bath homes with 1,836 square feet and many options in between. See the complex map. Other than the slightly odd parking situation, which feels more like a condo than townhomes, this is one of my favorite complexes in the South Bay. Residents seem to love the neighborhood feel and location not to far from the ocean and walkable to Riviera Village. As part of Redondo Beach, the residences also attend Redondo Unified School District and offers fantastic and highly ranked schools K-12.
Recent prices have ranged from the high $600,000 to the mid $700,000s.
